| Descriptive | Every other file, PR text, commit messages, and the chat reply | 25 words |

Why a writing standard

Hidkit writes a lot of prose: chat replies, commit messages, PR text, and the skills themselves. A skill is a prompt, so its wording shapes what the model does. Plating gives all of that text one standard, in English and in Spanish.

Plating loads with the Hidkit plugin. The other skills link it: Cheffy, Sharpener, Fill-me-in, Doodle, and Rolling-boil follow it when they write their replies.

Rules for both languages

  • Use the active voice, and write each instruction in the imperative.
  • Give each word one meaning. Do not swap synonyms for variety.
  • Use the terms in GLOSSARY.md. Each entry defines one term and lists the synonyms that you never use for it.
  • In Spanish, keep the English glossary term unless its entry gives a Spanish one, such as receta, rol, or el pase.
  • Write RFC 2119 keywords in capitals to separate a constraint from a preference: MUST, SHOULD, MAY, and in Spanish DEBE, DEBERÍA, PUEDE.

Text types

The path of a file sets its text type, as the snippet shows. Procedural text tells an agent what to do, so it gets one instruction per sentence.

Descriptive text keeps causal connectors such as “because” and “so”. Without them, a reader loses the link when one cause and one effect split into two fragments.

Completeness beats brevity. Never drop content to make a text short.

Spanish, and the lint

English follows ASD-STE100. Spanish applies these rules in order:

  1. Español Técnico Simplificado: name the actor, put the subject before the verb, and write one idea per sentence.
  2. The RFC 2119 keywords.
  3. UNE-ISO 24495-1:2024: each text is relevant, findable, understandable, and usable.
  4. ISO 704:2022 for definitions: the genus first, then the differentia.

Cheffy runs the prose lint as gate 9 of the pass:

node /path/to/hidkit/skills/cheffy/scripts/lint.mjs --prose <files>

Fix every error. Fix every warning, unless the shorter sentence loses meaning. I ran this lint on these lab notes too.
